    IMPU Supports AB 2257

IMPU was integral in drafting the music industry exemption language for AB5's 'clean up' bill AB 2257. IMPU urges all California lawmakers to vote 'yes' on AB 2257 and for Governor Newsom to sign the bill. Because AB 2257 is an 'urgency measure' it requires a 2/3's vote in both the Assembly and the Senate.

You can read IMPU co-founder, Ari Herstand's, breakdown on the language and the process on Ari's Take.

AMEND THE CARES ACT TO ACCOUNT FOR 'MIXED INCOME'

The CARES Act isn't covering musicians who have both W2 and 1099 income. IMPU urges Congress to amend the CARES Act to enable musicians to receive PUA benefits when they have mixed income.

    IMPU supports NIVA

Independent music venues are the backbone of the music industry. Not only are they the breeding grounds of some of the most influential bands of our time, they are the meeting place for our community. Independent music venues are where artists get started, grow their careers, build their fan bases and thrive. Without independent music venues, artists would have no place to perform, fans would have no place to see live music and the live music industry would collapse. Imagine a world without live music. This is what will happen if these music venues do not get the support they desperately need. IMPU stands with NIVA - and every independent music venue across the country - as they fight for survival. We urge congress to support NIVA's proposals to save the independent concert industry.
